An airsoft pistol was seized during a sweep of Garda raids across Donegal last week. The weapon was among a haul of drugs and designer watches recovered during a Day of Action targeting organised crime and the sale and supply of drugs in Letterkenny and East Donegal on 23rd July. Gardaí have now confirmed that seven residential properties were searched in Letterkenny, Ballybofey, Castlefin and St Johnston. The searches were carried out by Donegal Divisional Drugs unit supported by the Armed Support Unit, Dog Unit and members from Donegal North Community Engagement and Donegal South Community Engagement. Almost €12,000 worth of cocaine and cannabis was seized during the operation, along with two designer watches and a number of electronic devices. The drugs haul was previously valued at approximately €11,700, comprising €10,700 worth of cocaine and €1,000 worth of cannabis. The airsoft pistol uncovered during the operation will be forwarded to the Ballistics Section of the Garda Technical Bureau for technical examination. The seized drugs will also be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis. A Garda spokesperson has confirmed that no arrests were made and that investigations are ongoing.
