Android 17 QPR1 Beta 8 wipes out a nasty Pixel Tablet bug

Google is pushing out the latest Android software update for those who are on the beta program for Android 17, with the latest version being Android 17 QPR1 beta 8, after just releasing the QPR1 beta 7 build back on July 15. Much like that last beta build, this beta build focuses on fixing a handful of bugs and making otherwise general improvements to the stability of the software. This is par for the course with each QPR beta build, with big features being saved for the main beta versions and the stable release. In the QPR1 beta 7 update, for example, Google fixed a bug that was preventing users from using the Battery Share feature. This build tackles a few different types of bugs, including one that was altering the experience for people who use their phones for a lot of media playback. Android 17 QPR1 beta 8 fixes a bug that caused loud audio corruption If you’ve been using your device for media playback and have experienced a bug that would unexpectedly play audio more loudly while it sounded corrupted, this was a bug, and Google says it was fixed with this update. This update issues a handful of fixes, including “an audio framework buffer management issue that caused unexpected, loud audio corruption and static during media playback and notification interactions,” Google’s Mishaal Rahman stated on X. Another bug that this update tackles is one that was impacting the use of the fingerprint sensor. For some users, the fingerprint sensor wouldn’t be triggered by trying to unlock the device. Installing this update tends to that issue. Google also stated that there was a bug that would cause some NFC tags to fail to read data or open URLs. Finally, Google also mentions a Pixel Tablet bug. This bug would cause the dock to go offline and not connect when the tablet was attached to it. The Android 17 QPR1 Beta 8 update is available for all Pixel devices from the Pixel 6 onward.
