Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices Slashed by Over Rs 200 Across Major Cities; Domestic Rates Unchanged

New Delhi, Aug 1, 2026 (Yes Punjab News) State-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs) have reduced the prices of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders by more than Rs 200 across major cities with effect from August 1, offering significant relief to restaurants, hotels and other commercial establishments that rely on LPG for daily operations. Under the latest revision, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has been cut by Rs 202 in Delhi and Rs 209 in Kolkata. Following the reduction, the retail price of the commercial cylinder in Kolkata now stands at Rs 2,872.50. The price revision applies only to commercial LPG cylinders. There has been no change in the rates of 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinders used by households. The latest cut follows a similar reduction announced on July 1, when commercial LPG cylinder prices were lowered by up to Rs 183.50 across key markets. Commercial LPG prices had witnessed multiple hikes in recent months amid volatility in global energy markets, driven largely by geopolitical tensions in West Asia. As supply conditions improved, the government gradually eased restrictions on commercial and industrial LPG supplies. Earlier, authorities restored 50 per cent of LPG supplies to commercial and industrial consumers whose allocations had been curtailed to prioritise household demand during the period of supply constraints. During the conflict, the government had invoked provisions under the Essential Commodities Act, directing that C3-C4 hydrocarbon streams be used exclusively for LPG production instead of petrochemical and other downstream industries to ensure adequate domestic availability. The government has also directed oil marketing companies to continue maintaining comprehensive data on commercial and industrial LPG consumers to facilitate efficient planning and supply management.
