Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed investigations remained ongoing into the death, which is being treated as an alleged hit-and-run incident. The victim was found lying motionless on the side of the road on the morning of July 5 with visible injuries. Police said the final classification of the death would be determined after post-mortem examination results are received. The Fiji Police Force has again urged members of the public to adopt a responsible mindset towards road safety, reminding motorists that every decision made on the road can have serious consequences. Police stressed that disregarding road rules increased the risk of accidents and could result in the loss of life.
