Flood survivors may qualify for hotel stays, gift cards

(Courtesy of the Community Council of South Central Texas website) The Community Council of South Central Texas is offering disaster recovery assistance to eligible flood survivors, including three to five nights of emergency hotel lodging, H-E-B gift cards, utility assistance, fuel, personal care items and cleaning supplies. Eligibility for H-E-B gift cards and hotel stays is based on household size and disaster relief income guidelines. To view the eligibility standards, visit tinyurl.com/3t8my9u4 . The assistance is funded through the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs’ Community Services Block Grant, which supports flood recovery efforts in Uvalde, Bandera, Dimmit, Guadalupe, Kendall, Kerr, La Salle, McMullen and Zavala counties, according to the nonprofit’s website. Those seeking additional assistance may visit the Community Council of South Central Texas office at 1022 Garner Field Road, Suite C, in Uvalde. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with the office closed from noon to 1 p.m. for lunch unless otherwise noted. The office also will be closed Aug. 7 for staff training.
