BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - A gas leak has closed roads in Birmingham, according to the Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency (EMA). Responders said a gas leak appeared to be coming from the storm drain which seemed to be caused by what looked like a petroleum product in the storm drain system. 23rd Street from 1st to 5th Avenue is closed. Officials said they don’t know how the petroleum product got there and they are investigating. A citizen reported the odor. There is no timeline on resolution yet.
