STOREY COUNTY, Nev. (KOLO) - The Gold Fire, west of Gold Hill in Storey County, is 100 percent contained, according to a Saturday, July 18, Bureau of Land Management - Nevada Facebook post. The 19.3-acre fire, managed under unified command by the U.S. Wildland Fire Service and the Storey County Fire Protection District, remained within its footprint overnight into Saturday, according to the Gold Fire’s Final Report. Firefighters are continuing to mop up and secure the fire perimeter. Although the fire is 100% contained, crews will keep patrolling, extinguishing hot spots, and securing the area until the fire is declared controlled, firefighters said. Ophir Grade Road remains closed. No structures are threatened. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
