Highland roadshow to offer advice during Scottish exam results week with drop-in events at Aviemore, Inverness and Dingwall A new Results Roadshow will be visiting Highland towns in August to provide free information and guidance directly to young people after their exams. The week-long roadshow, which will run from August 3 to 7, will visit Dingwall, Inverness and Aviemore, giving young people and their families the opportunity to speak with education providers, careers advisers and employability specialists about the wide range of opportunities available after receiving their results. The roadshow is run by college and career advisers and is being led by UHI Inverness in partnership with Developing the Young Workforce Inverness & Central Highland (DYWICH) and Skills Development Scotland (SDS). It coincides with Scottish Results Day on Tuesday, August 4 and forms part of the tenth anniversary of DYW’s award-winning #NoWrongPath campaign, which encourages young people to recognise there is no single route to a successful career. UHI Inverness will be hosting a Results Day Drop-in on campus on Wednesday, August 5 to offer information to anyone interested in starting a course in September, including apprenticeships, HNCs, HNDs and degrees. Visitors will be able to explore the campus and speak to teaching staff to learn more about courses that match their interests, ambitions and results. The roadshow meanwhile, will allows members of the public not able to come to campus to receive course information and advice directly from UHI Inverness staff in their own communities. During the roadshow visitors can discover courses starting at UHI Inverness this September, speak to Skills Development Scotland about their dedicated results helpline and how they can get year-round careers information, advice and guidance, information on apprenticeships and employability support. The roadshow will also give people the chance to meet the DYWICH team to explore local employment opportunities, work experience, apprenticeships and other pathways into the world of work through #NoWrongPath. The roadshow will visit Aviemore’s Tesco on Monday, August 3; the Eastgate Shopping Centre in Inverness on Tuesday, August 4; The UHI Inverness campus on Wednesday, August 5, Dingwall’s Tesco store on Thursday, August 6; and the Victorian Market in Inverness on Friday, August 7. All five of the roadshow events will run from 10am to 2pm. Alongside the roadshow, DYWICH is encouraging businesses, organisations and professionals from across the Highlands to support young people by taking part in the tenth #NoWrongPath campaign. By bringing together DYW, Skills Development Scotland and UHI Inverness, we're making it easier for young people and their families to access trusted advice in their own communities, whatever their results may be. “At the same time, we're celebrating ten years of #NoWrongPath by asking employers and professionals across the Highlands to share their own career journeys. Every story helps show that there are many different ways to build a successful career, and that it's perfectly okay if your path isn't a straight line." There are lots of opportunities available, and we want to ensure everyone has the information and support they need to take their next step with confidence.” Businesses of every size are invited to support the #NoWrongPath campaign by sharing a photo, video or written post explaining what they did after leaving school and what they do now, using the hashtag #NoWrongPath between August 3 and 7.
