Julie K. Horn, age 77, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Grand Forks on Thursday, July 2, 2026. Julie Karen Schultz was born June 6, 1949 in Grand Forks, ND to Sanford and Mildred (Wilcox) Schultz. She grew up in Grand Forks and graduated from Central High School in 1967. Julie was a life-long resident of Grand Forks and was the epitome of a hard worker. Her first of many jobs was as a candy striper at Deaconess Hospital in High School. She followed that at the iconic Howard’s Pizza then Dakota TV. She found her career at the UND Medical School in 1980 where she faithfully worked as an Administrative Assistant in the PPT Department until her retirement in 2024. She enjoyed and respected her administrators, colleagues and co-workers. On May 25, 1979, Julie married Shawn Horn and together they enjoyed spending time with their grandsons, traveling to Sioux Hockey games and spending as much time as possible at their lake home. Julie enjoyed reading, knitting and crocheting, anything Pepe Le Pew, Diet Mt. Dew and her miniature schnauzers Fritz, Pepper and Maxi. Julie will be lovingly remembered by her husband Shawn Horn of Grand Forks; children David (Tricia) Dover of Barnegat, New Jersey, Jennifer Hysing of Salt Lake City, UT, and Chris (Cheryl ) Horn of Grand Forks; grandchildren Zack Dover of Niceville, FL, Gage Cadenhead of Crestview, FL, Eric and Hunter Hysing of Colorado Springs, CO, and Brady, Ethan and Gavin Horn of Grand Forks. She was preceded in death by her father Sanford Schultz, mother and step-father Millie and Joseph Brossart.
