Lexington officials urge caution ahead of forecast severe weather

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - City of Lexington officials are urging caution before forecast severe weather on Tuesday. “The city is prepared to assist residents in the event of strong storms, high winds, and hail,” said Mayor Linda Gorton. “It’s possible that we will experience power outages, trees and limbs down in roadways, and traffic issues.” City emergency management team members have been staying up to date on the latest forecasts. “We have already placed employees in our Streets and Roads, Water Quality, and Traffic Engineering divisions on call,” Gorton said. “They have been advised to check equipment and have vehicles prepared. It’s all hands on deck.” The city’s first responders will also be on standby. “They have done some advance planning, and are prepared to provide assistance as needed,” Gorton said.
