LIVE MONDAY: Funeral, procession details released for Crete Police Chief Gary Young

CRETE, Neb. (KOLN) - Officials released additional details regarding the funeral and procession service for Crete Police Chief Gary Young, who died on Monday, July 27. 10/11 NOW will provide live streaming coverage of the service and the procession on Monday for those who cannot attend. According to the Nebraska State Patrol, the public is welcome to attend the funeral service, which will begin at 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 3, at Ag Hall at Tuxedo Park in Crete. The procession will come out of Crete following the funeral at around 11 a.m. The procession will head east to Highway 77, before heading north into Lincoln. NSP will have an airplane follow the procession on its entire drive. Once the procession reaches Lincoln, it will head to the Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. The Lincoln Police Department will provide traffic control at major intersections. NSP said the public is encouraged to line the route in Crete or Lincoln, but not on the highway route between the two communities. The public should not park on the route itself. Young served the Crete Police Department for 41 years and was appointed chief in 2022.
