RAPID CITY, S.D. (KELO) -- Monument Health will soon expand its health care options for children. Construction is expected to begin shortly in Rapid City. Postpartum care is also set to get an upgrade. Patients at Monument Health currently have to move rooms after labor. However, a new expansion will add 19 labor, delivery, and recovery rooms. The expansion will also transform the neonatal intensive care unit from an open-bay environment into 25 private and semi-private rooms. The $48 million project will add 63,000 square feet and help elevate patient care. The expansion will consist of a new building that connects to Monument Health. The project is expected to be completed in February 2028.
