Students at Nadi Muslim Primary School will soon no longer have to stand in the sun for school assemblies after work began on a $650,000 multipurpose hall. Ground was broken on the project last fortnight, marking a major milestone for the school and its community. The hall, modelled on the facility at Nadi Muslim College, will provide students with a modern indoor venue while also serving the wider community. Related stories The project is the result of three years of work by the school's management committee, head of school, teachers, parents, alumni, donors and supporters. Funding includes a $300,000 donation from Nadi businessman Bobby Khan, while a further $100,000 has been raised through fundraising efforts led by the management committee, parents, alumni and supporters. The school is still seeking a further $250,000 to fully fund the project. Mr Khan said the community would continue working together to achieve that goal. The WHL Group director said he was honoured to support another education project. "Once again, WHL Group has been blessed by Allah (SWT) to be the major donor and sponsor for another hall project," he said. "This time, with love and care, we have taken on the construction of a large hall for Nadi Muslim Primary School. We are doing this for our children so they will have proper shelter during their time at school." Mr Khan also played a key role in funding the hall at Nadi Muslim College. Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro urged parents and guardians to prioritise education by ensuring their children attended school every day, arrived on time and received support at home. He also reminded students that while improved facilities created greater opportunities, their success would depend on their attitude, effort and willingness to learn. Mr Radrodro thanked the head of school, teachers and the school management committee for their leadership and commitment to shaping the lives of young people. He also congratulated everyone who had contributed to the project and wished the contractor success with the construction. The Minister said he looked forward to seeing the completed hall serve generations of students.
