PM Modi praises PV Sindhu’s historic Japan Open victory

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised PV Sindhu’s recent victory at the Japan Open, describing it as a moment of pride for the entire nation. Sindhu secured her first Japan Open title last week by defeating world number three and home favourite Akane Yamaguchi 21-17, 21-17 in the women’s singles final of the BWF Super 750 tournament. The win marked Sindhu’s first Super 750 title and ended a two-year title drought. She also became the first Indian shuttler to claim the prestigious Japan Open. Speaking during the 136th Mann Ki Baat broadcast, PM Modi said, “Our youth have achieved many remarkable achievements in sports in recent times. PV Sindhu has become the first Indian to win the Japan Open title in badminton. The entire nation is proud of her achievement.” The Prime Minister also commended the Indian women’s cricket team for their historic Test victory at Lord’s earlier this month. India defeated England by 270 runs in the one-off Women’s Test, marking their first Test win at the iconic venue after 142 years of it hosting women’s Tests. “The Indian Women’s Cricket Team has also won its first Test Match at Lord’s Stadium in London. This is a historic victory,” PM Modi added, highlighting the achievement as a proud chapter in India’s sporting history.
