Spoiler: Injured WWE Star Returning on July 24 SmackDown

Nikki Bella’s comeback is going down tonight. After months on the shelf with a broken ankle, the WWE Hall of Famer is set to return during the July 24 episode of SmackDown and immediately jump into a SummerSlam storyline. Fightful Select states Nikki will appear after Lainey Reid faces Brie Bella. The angle is expected to set up Nikki and Brie teaming with Paige against Fatal Influence in a six-woman tag team match at SummerSlam. “Fightful Select has learned that Nikki Bella is set to return on tonight’s edition of WWE SmackDown following Lainey Reid vs. Brie Bella to set up a six-woman tag team match between The Bellas and Paige vs. Fatal Influence at SummerSlam.” Nikki has been out of action since breaking her ankle and undergoing surgery three months ago. She recently revealed that WWE put her through a brutal round of testing at the Performance Center before clearing her to return. That testing included full-speed sprints, jumps, bumps, coming off the top turnbuckle and even wrestling an unplanned match. Nikki said officials also made her run from backstage, jump the barricade and take a toss over the ropes to see how her ankle handled live action. The return gives Brie and Paige some backup after they lost the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships to Fatal Influence at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Now Nikki is expected to show up on SmackDown and help lock in the SummerSlam fight. Nikki Bella has cleared WWE’s tests, survived the hardest part of her recovery and is now ready to step back onto television. Her comeback will not be a simple appearance either, because WWE already has a major SummerSlam match waiting for her.
