Conceived in 2017 by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Centre of Islamic Civilisation in Tashkent operates as the world's largest museum dedicated to Muslim heritage.The complex houses a seventh-century Qur’an written on deerskin alongside academic offices run in partnership with UNESCO and the University of Oxford. Beyond showcasing historical treasures, the centre functions as an active diplomatic venue designed to deepen cross-cultural understanding. It recently hosted a major international forum gathering over 400 scholars and facilitated the return of nine looted Kushan and Sogdian artefacts from London.With 60% of Uzbekistan's population under 35, officials aim to connect younger generations directly to Central Asia's foundational contributions to global science.
