Woman killed and girl critically injured in Cavan crash

A woman aged in her 50s has been killed in a road tragedy in Cavan. She was killed when the car she was driving collided with a truck. The incident happened just after 5pm on the R162 at Corclare, Shercock. A girl, who was a passenger in the car, was also severely injured and is currently in a critical condition at Temple Street Hospital in Dublin. Gardaí say that other occupants of both vehicles received medical attention at the scene, but no other injuries were reported. A technical examination of the scene is now underway. Gardaí have appealed to any witnesses to the collision to come forward.
