WWE Announces SummerSlam Altering Saturday Night’s Main Event Stipulation During 7/17 SmackDown

The July 17 episode of WWE SmackDown went down at the MVP Arena in Albany, New York. The show is live, and Saturday Night’s Main Event is right around the corner. That could add even more drama to SummerSlam in the end. Sami Zayn has not been happy since his 9-day Undisputed WWE Championship reign was ended by CM Punk. He is going to team up with GUNTHER to take on Cody Rhodes and CM Punk at Saturday Night’s Main Event as a direct answer to that frustrating situation for the Underdog from the Undergroud. During WWE SmackDown tonight, Adam Pearce announced that if Sami Zayn and Gunther defeat CM Punk and Cody Rhodes at Saturday Night’s Main Event, the SummerSlam match will become a Fatal 4-Way. This all came about after GUNTHER opened up the show to complain about his situation. Then Adam Pearce came out to get in his face and let the Ring General know that he would be fired if it was his call. SummerSlam 2026 is heading to Minneapolis, Minnesota, with WWE’s biggest event of the summer taking over U.S. Bank Stadium on Saturday, August 1, and Sunday, August 2. The two-night premium live event will be held inside the home of the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings, setting the stage for another massive SummerSlam weekend.
