The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has provided more details around the tragic accident that claimed three of Highlanders’ top brass. Cops said the accident took place at the 380km peg along the Harare-Bulawayo Road near Mbembesi around 1930hrs on Thursday night. The victims already known are Rtd Colonel Kenneth Mhlophe (70), the Highlanders chairman, his vice Sifiso Siziba (55), and treasurer Nkani Khoza (66), who served as treasurer at the club. The woman, who had not been named before, was Mbalenhle Sibanda, a 27-year-old woman who was a Highlanders supporter. The ZRP says it discourages the public from travelling or driving at night, adding that there was an increase in fatal road traffic accidents after hours. The force said it would engage with traditional leaders, farmers and other stakeholders to ensure animals do not recklessly end up on the road.
